I urge you to intervene to stop the execution of Zeinab Jalilian

June 27, 2010

Dear Ms.Pillay:
I am writing this to urge you to intervene to stop the imminent execution of Zeinab Jalilian,(as well as the execution of all other political dissidents at risk of execution in Iran).
Kurdish political prisoner Zeinab Jalilian has been moved to the enforcement section of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s detention facilities; thus her execution is likely imminent.
During the 1988 prison massacres in Iran, where thousands of political prisoners like Ms. Jalalian were secretly executed and buried in mass graves, the UN & other groups were largely silent. One of the criticisms often directed against the UN Human Rights Commission is inconsistency. If the UN Human Rights Commission is to be taken seriously,(outside of the halls of the UN),it must speak out against these atrocities.
While the UN cannot control the actions of its member states, neither can it remain silent.Ms.Jalilian,& many others, await your reply. Sincerely
Robert Reed Daly
